After Hours Emergencies

For our patients of record, we provide "after hours" emergency care for genuine dental emergencies.

An "After Hours Fee" will be charged in addition to any fee for services provided.

Generally after hours treatment will only be palliative - our aim will be to provide pain relief.

After hours there will be no staff to assist the dentist. As a result, it is not possible for us to do extractions after hours. Any dental extraction can end up a surgical extraction unexpectedly. This would be a potentially dangerous procedure without a dental nurse to assist.

If you have a dental emergency, please ring our practice on 3408 2488.

Our answering service message will direct you to the mobile phone number for the dentist on call at that time.

Ways to avoid after hours emergencies and the additional costs:

  • Wrap your kids up in cotton wool and don't let them outside - Good Luck!
Falls off bikes, trampolines and such are common causes of broken teeth. Not much you can do………
  • Wear a "well fitting" mouthguard for sport - football, cricket, basketball, netball, hockey etc.
  • Have your teeth checked regularly - most dental problems are preventable.
  • Always have "pain killers" available. Sometimes this will help you hold off until the morning. For adults with dental problems, Nurofen or Panadeine (paracetamol and codeine combination) are great. For kids Panadol (pararcetamol) is probably best. All these are available over the counter at the pharmacy.
  • Do not take aspirin for dental pain. It can create bleeding problems after an extraction.
  • If your tooth starts aching during the week or on a Saturday morning (we are open on Saturday mornings) do something about it straightaway. This will save you unnecessary pain and expense.
